A few hours after the start of the fifth leg of the VOR in Rio de Janiero, a port-starboard collision occurred between SEB and illbruck while they were beating towards Cabo Frio. The report received from illbruck lodged their intention to protest SEB, as they had sustained some damage.

In light shifty breezes the lead had been changing from Amer Sports One, to Tyco, then to djuice and back again. The lighter winds look set to continue and conditions are likely to prove testing as the VO60s beat their way to the east. Once round the point, the boats will pick up the Brazilian current against them once again as they head north, hoping for the slightly stronger easterlies to fill in over the next 24 hours.
