Olympic gold medalist Ben Ainslie to start his assault on the World Championship
Langenaren – on the shores of Lake Constance (pictured left) – will be flooded with sailors and spectators this week as the World Match Racing tour arrives in Germany.
Amongst the competitors lined up is reigning World Champion, Briton Ian Williams and Bahrain Team Pindar. He is joined by number one ranked ISAF sailor Seb Col (FRA) with the French Team/K-Challenge, current Tour leader Adam Minoprio (NZL) of ETNZ/BlackMatch Racing, and four time Match Racing World Champion Peter Gilmour (AUS) backed up by Yanmar Racing.
And the list of talent doesn’t stop there. Triple Olympic Gold Ben Ainslie (right) and Team Origin will begin their assault on the World Championship.
Racing will take place a stones throw from the shoreline in Langenargen. The boat of choice is the Bavaria Match 35.
Match Race Germany is the second stop on the 10 event 2009 Tour, which sees four events tightly packed into the next six weeks. Teams will need to stay focused and fight for every World Championship point.
