Mike Slade’s 90ft yacht Leopard of London has damaged its rudder en route from the Azores to Southampton and is currently battling with storms in the Atlantic, 600 miles south-west of Land’s End.
On a report on the BBC website the crew of seven are to stay on board leaking yacht until the tug arrives to tow them ashore later in the week. The forecast is for the storms to abate by the end of the week but in the meantime, the crew are controlling the water intake with the yacht’s pump system.
Coastguards will continue to closely monitor the situation and we will bring more news when we have it.
