It’s been an exciting start to Louis Vuitton Act 13 in Valencia today. In shifty conditions there’s been massive place changes on the racecourse with the Italian Plus 39 Challenge leading for three quarters of the race before being overtaken by Alinghi.

Alinghi who broke through too early and had to return to the start, sailed well to recover but then, just when they thought they had it in the bag the American BMW Oracle team pulled off a perfect gybe-peel to snatch the lead from the America’s Cup defenders in the final kilometre.

BMW Oracle won by over three and a half minutes. The Swedish Victory Challenge suffered spinnaker problems on the on the final leg and trailed the fleet across the line.

The next race is just about to start.
