Today's weather and shore-based events…

09:00 – 12:00 SW 10 to 15 increasing 15 to 20 knots
12:00 – 15:00 SW 15 to 20 occasionally to 25 knots

Gusts are likely to be a third as high again above average wind speed; more if associated with squalls or thunderstorms. On Tuesday the wind is expected to veer W-NW between 18 and 23 knots with occasional showers.
Today is charity day in Cowes and we’re expecting the town to turn blue! All visitors to the event are encouraged to get into the spirit and turn up with a blue theme. That could be blue hair, a blue shirt or a blue Ellen MacArthur Trust wristband. These are available from the parade village on Cowes Parade. There are also donation tins in all the local shops where you can show your support.
Between 13:00-14:00 there will be a strategy presentation to talk about the changes proposed for Skandia Cowes Week in the future. This is your chance to have your questions answered by Cowes Combined Clubs. If you want to take part get along to the Trinity Theatre (behind the regatta office in Cowes).
The Stars of Sailing Regatta takes place this evening- see the Skandia Team GBR race against each other in dinghies provided by the UKSA. With commentary provided by Cowes Radio this is a spectacle not to be missed.
Once the racing is over be sure to check out the main stage in the Cowes Parade. As well as Joey & the Jivers Chas and Dave will be banging out the tunes to the delight of the crowds.
Today’s racing starts with the Laser SB3s at 10:05.
