78 years after she was first launched, the famous J-Class yacht ‘Rainbow’ sails again . Built to defend the America’s Cup against ‘Endeavour’ in 1934, she was sold for scrap 6 years later.
Built in aluminium, this replica of the America’s Cup winner was built by Holland Jachtbouw in Zaandam. The 40 metre yacht will be taking part in the J-Class races being held on the South Coast between June and July.
Rainbow was first designed by Starling Burgess in 1933 and re-designed by Gerard Dijkstra. Dykstra & Partners have gained over 20 years of J-Class experience
and have been tasked with the rebuilds of the J-Class yachts Shamrock
V, Velsheda, Endeavour, refit of Ranger and the new build Endeavour II.
Rainbow will be the 2nd new J-Class in order for the Dykstra team. She sails under the number JH-2
